the grandkids loving playing together at the house

we had a stupendous vacation over thanksgiving in princeville, kauai. our friends, the goodsells were so awesome to offer their place to us while my parents' condo is under renovation. it was awesome! if you plan to go to hawaii with a big group (or even a small one :), you must check out the hanalei hideaway. best place and best value in princeville -- the most heavenly place on earth. seriously.
the peeps lounging on thanksgiving

Behold, she eats sugar!

all the kids stayed in the hanalei hideaway house together (including grandkids), while my parents bunked in their construction zone condo. they worked on their place late into the night and were up every morning hammering away! we watched a lot of tv, played a lot of cards, slept in, and enjoyed the views out the lanai!
look closely -- baby dan's head is under big dan's rearend

dad cuddling his lil' bud
sleeping baby, crashing waves, sand between my toes. heavenly? yes.

girls doing what girls do

... and boys doing what boys do.

we kind of flew by the seat of our pants all week -- i was the scrooge of the bunch always saying, "where are we going? when are we leaving? what are we doing? how long does it take to get there? do we have everything? should we leave now?...." i'm sure everyone got frustrated with my control-freak and ADD attitude, haha! but really, we did plenty of fun stuff and the best part was hanging out together!

UMM HELLO. Look at how ridiculous this sun room is. Awesome.
we are a fun family. we like kauai. we like each other.
the weather was wet, but warm. just the way i like it. an occasional rain shower here and there, but plenty of sun to bask in.
hanalei bay

our time was spent mostly at the neat beaches -- secret beach, anini beach, and hanalei bay. we got shave ice with macnut ice cream almost every day, took a few incredibly scenic drives, and had a true hawaiian thanksgiving with smoked pulled turkey and sweet hawaiian rolls.
he wanted to play SO badly
best buds
my favorite thing was hanging out a secret beach -- the river flows straight into the ocean so you can frolic in clear, fresh water one second, then hop into the ocean for a fun time in the waves. you feel like you're the only ones there. it is so peaceful, and the kids LOVE playing in the shallow, cool river.
boogie boarding
the higher, the better

i'd have to say my second favorite thing was that steve and i got to sleep in the same bed! it was cool. haha.
the only picture i took of myself, haha
adorable

overall, a fantabulous trip. OH, my 3rd favorite thing about the trip -- lucking out with an empty seat for danny on both the flight TO and FROM kauai. we would have died without him strapped into his carseat. best method.
goodbye, kauai! we love it there. look at that cheezy laugh. love my boys!
hopefully we can go with some friends next time! it is such a great place to just let loose, take off your makeup, stuff your face, and get to know each other :) til next time.
