when it rains, it pours

Isn't that the truth?

This week has been out of control. To begin, my sister-in-law, Kristen was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a while back. she had her thyroid removed and recently began radioactive iodine therapy. Because she is radioactive right now, she can't come near anyone, including her 3 kids and husband :(

My mother-in-law,Kathy has been caring for Kristen's kids since last week while kristen completes her treatment. A couple of days ago, however, my father-in-law became very sick! Swollen feet and ankles, swollen abdomen, sharp pain, trouble breathing... the whole she-bang. After a couple days and much convincing, he called the doctor who immediately sent him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a bad gallbladder (which needs to be removed) and congestive heart failure. He has been there since Monday, and we are hoping to get him home by Christmas!

On Monday, when my father-in-law went to the hospital, my niece got sick and needed to be taken to the doctor as well! Steve and I took her to the doctor and got her medicine. She is fine now -- phew!

To top it all off, last night I learned that my Grandpa Glenn (Stapley) is very, VERY sick. In just the past couple months his health has plummeted. He says that he hopes to make it through my Grandma Marian's birthday which is New Year's Day. I've always had a strong relationship with my grandparents, and to lose my grandpa is going to be really tough. I am just grateful that I was able to see him and give him lots of hugs and love over Thanksgiving. I am also grateful that he got to meet baby Danny.

Hopefully this week winds down, everyone gets well, and we can really focus on the blessings of this holiday season! I know everything is going to be ok -- it's just been a lot to handle all at once! Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and really remember to count your blessings and show love to those you hold dear.

Oh Bec! That is way too much. I am so sorry. One of those things would be hard to handle. It is a good thing you are such a strong person, have Steve and Danny, and the gospel.
My thoughts are with you and your family. I love your grandpa, such a sweet guy!

I'm so sorry for all of this. It does seem like it all hits at once sometimes. We're thinking about you guys :) Love you and Merry Christmas.

p.s. Your Christmas card is darling, and hanging on our fridge.
That last comment was me...sorry, I hate when I'm not signed in. :(

He is waiting for us in heaven. I love you. I seriously can't wait to be with you on Sunday and reminisce all the wonderful times we had with GPa.
